About Us

When Bob and I moved from my home state of Ohio to the Sunshine State of Florida in 1985, my two requests were to have a pool and a horse. The horse next door just happened to be a gorgeous Morgan filly, and before long she was mine.

I had grown up in the company of generous farmers who had let my sister and me ride their horses, but I had never owned a horse myself. Bob, my city boy, didn't know one end of the horse from the other. Thanks to many hours learning the fine art of stall cleaning, he is now clear on which end is which.Above Command with Bob & Debi

Our next purchase was at the Golden Opportunity Sale at Whitney Stables, where the beautiful yearling Above Command came into our hearts. Our purchase proved a smart one as he went right out and won the World Futurity Yearling Stallion Championship to confirm our good faith in him. Unfortunately, a training accident thwarted an otherwise promising career in performance.

Since showing was out of the picture for "AC", we turned to breeding. I purchased our foundation mares, some retired show champions and other impeccably bred broodmares. Our prefix while we lived in Florida was "Winbay", and our first two foals carried this prefix. Winbay Jesta Dancer (foaled in 1987) was sired by Noble Jesture and out of Garwood Sylvia Bird. Winbay Kres-Flight (Serenity Flight Time x Kresknoll Miss Val) was also foaled in 1987 and went on to have a successful show career, and has since become a valuable producer for other Morgan breeders.

In 1987, we moved to the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina, where I decided that CastleRidge was a more suitable prefix for our new home. My philosophy has always been to breed conformationally correct individuals with intelligence and sensibility, people friendly dispositions, for show or companion. Suitable for amateurs as well as professionals, our CastleRidge horses have been best friends and World Champions equally.

One of Bob's passions (now that he's satisfied my horsey passions) is his Prevost Bus. This is a handy-dandy little portable party room for our horse show excursions, and our friends have dubbed it "Bob's Bad A** Bus", shortened to BAB when we are planning for these get togethers. Recently, our bus story was featured on the Prevost Owners Group website, click HERE to read about it!

A few of the winning foals produced include --

  • Winbay Kres-Flight
  • CastleRidge Cut Above
  • CastleRidge Above Any Bay
  • CastleRidge Simply Above
  • CastleRidge Aboves My Dad
  • CastleRidge Above The Law
  • CastleRidge Wildly Above

All have won at either Regional or the Grand National. Over one-third of our foals have gone on to win at major shows.

I do my own breeding, AI and natural cover. As a retired infertilty nurse, I guess it was just a natural transition! I am a small breeder and consider quality above quantity.

If you are interested in owning a CastleRidge Morgan, I'd be happy to hear from you! Call or e-mail me.
